Bio

Junghye Yun is an artist who works with sculptures, painting, and video. Yun explores the impact of the discarded plastic disposable materials upon human relations and the natural environment with political ecology. Junghye uses plastic trash - the main culprit of environmental pollution - to point to values of capitalism and materialism that inform modern society and harm the natural environment. Plastic collected by the artist are transformed and re-presented with the beauty of a new form of sculpture that has never been seen before. Junghye’s experimental working process draws on to the conflicting symbols of abandonment and recycling, danger and beauty. Junghye uses the sculpture works to create a light-based installation in which cast shadow and the light reflected in the coloured plastic sculpture. Yun has exhibited at Brunswick Street Gallery, Melbourne, Australia (2017); Galerie GAIA, S. Korea(2013); Is Gallery, S. Korea (2014) and participated in several international art fairs including the New York Art Hampton Art Fair, New York (2016); Art Gwangju Fair, S. Korea (2015); and Seoul Art Fair, S. Korea (2015). Yun’s work is represented in the art collection of the Hangyang University Medical Center in S. Korea. Yun is currently studying a Master of Fine Art at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia.

‌윤정혜는 조각, 회화, 영상 작업을 하는 작가이다. 작가는 버려지는 일회용 플라스틱 재료가 인간관계와 자연환경에 미치는 영향을 정치생태학으로 탐구한다. 그녀는 환경오염의 주범인 플라스틱 쓰레기를 이용해 현대사회를 알리고 자연환경을 해치는 자본주의와 물질주의의 가치를 지적한다. 작가가 수집한 플라스틱은 지금까지 볼 수 없었던 새로운 형태의 조각의 아름다움으로 변형되고 재현된다. 그녀의 실험적인 작업 과정은 버려짐과 재활용, 위험과 아름다움의 상충되는 상징을 활용합니다. 정혜는 조각 작품을 사용하여 채색된 플라스틱 조각에 그림자와 빛이 반사되는 빛 기반 설치를 위주로 만든다.
윤정혜 작가는 현재 호주 멜버른에 있는 RMIT 대학교에서 미술 석사 졸업예정을 앞두고 있다.
